Twilight Team Jacob Werewolf Party Favors

Posted on August 18, 2009 at 12:40 PM Comments comments (16)

With all the excitement and anticipation for the release of the New Moon movie, we all need something to keep us busy while we count down the days, hours, minutes...

Now is the perfect time to start planning a New Moon movie premiere party!

Sorry Team Edward, but this is obviously going to be Jacob's movie and you'll need some clever ideas to surprise your guests. Last year I made 'Werewolf Kibble' for my Twilight party and it was a huge hit, so I am going to share the recipe here!

You can serve it up Rosalie style, in dog dishes, because of course, this was inspired by Breaking Dawn, when Rosalie scratches the name, 'Fido' into a makeshift dog dish and serves it to Jacob. You could also make doggie bags that your party guests can take home as favors.

I designed some cute 'Werewolf Kibble' tags (pictured below) to tie onto my favor bags. You are welcome to download the image and print them out for your own party too.

Werewolf Kibble Recipe

9 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Measure cereal into a large bowl, set aside.

In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla.

Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.

Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool.

Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

To make this recipe look extra special, make peanut butter cookies rolled and cutout with bone shaped cookie cutters. Mix the small bone shaped cookies into your 'Werewolf Kibble' mix. You could also use a bone shaped chocolate mold to make candy mix-ins.

Hey Mom, Your Daughter Called, She Wants A Twilight Party!

Posted on August 12, 2009 at 1:13 PM Comments comments (0)

I've been working a some new Twilight party ideas for the release of the New Moon movie in November and I thought it would be a great idea to celebrate the striking differences between Edward and Jacob!

In New Moon and Eclipse, Bella must choose one over the other that's exactly the choice guests will be forced to make when they R.S.V.P. for a 'Fire & Ice' Party. The entire party theme, decorations, food and favors are different for Team Edward and Team Jacob guests. I've shared some ideas to help you get started on planning your party right away. Take a look at the Twilight 'Fire & Ice' Party Planning Guide and let me know what you think. If you have something to add feel free to drop a note in the guestbook.

If you need more help planning your Twilight party or heaven forbid you haven't read the books, but desperately want to surprise your daughter with the party of her dreams, I can help with that too! Without having any knowledge of the story line it's somewhat impossible to impress a roomful of dreamy-eyed teenage girls who are swooning over vampires and werewolves. It is really important to incorporate quotes and inside jokes into the party theme, in as many ways a possible. When you combine all the romantic little details with the element of danger and adventure it creates the perfect party.

DIY Twilight Quotes Fortune Cookies

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 10:29 PM Comments comments (3)

Twilight parties are so much fun to plan because of all the fun little details that are woven into the story of forbidden love. I love using quotes from the Twilight books as part of the party theme in as many ways as possible.

Everybody loves fortune cookies and when you add your own personalized fortunes or favorite quotes they make creative, yet inexpensive party favors that will *dazzle* your guests. It's surprisingly easy to open a fortune cookie, add your own message and then re-close it again. You can even hide tiny gifts, jewelry or charms inside!

The first thing you'll need to do is have your Twilight quotes printed, cut to size and ready to add to your cookies. *If you don't have time to scour your books to find your favorites, twilight-quotes.com has hundreds listed by characters, books and chapters.

Depending on how many cookies you're planning to make you may want to ask a few friends to join you. When you're ready to assemble your cookies you'll need a clean workspace and a microwave oven.

Instructions:

  • Place each fortune cookie in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until it becomes soft.
  • Carefully open up the cookie and remove the original fortune and then add your Twilight quote and/or gift.
  • Re-close and re-shape your cookie.
  • As your cookie cools and dries it will harden.

For an even more dramatic effect you can try using strawberry flavored, blood red fortune cookies with messages that say "Bite me, Edward" or "Once bitten, forever Edward's." Add a printable vampire bakery label as a finishing touch!

Package your finished cookies in cellophane bags or chinese take out containers tied up with a red ribbon.

Twilight Red Velvet Vampire Cookie Recipe

Posted on July 29, 2009 at 12:17 PM Comments comments (0)

Red Velvet Vampire Cookie Recipe

1(18.25 ounce) box red velvet cake mix

¼ cup canola oil

½ cup mayonnaise

2 eggs or egg substitute

2 cups old fashioned oatmeal

1 cup white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine the oil, mayonnaise and eggs.

Mix well.

Stir in the cake mix and oatmeal.

Add the white chocolate chips.

Roll the dough into 1 - 1 1/2" balls.

Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 - 10 minutes, don't overcook.

Cool on cookie sheet one minute.

Transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.

Store tightly covered.

I made these red velvet vampire cookies for my Twilight party and they turned out blood red and tasted really yummy too! This is a cake mix recipe, so it's extremely easy to make and never fails to turn out perfectly. I should warn you that the cookie dough resembles scenes from a bloody horror movie. It looks disgusting and keeps it bright red color even after it's baked, so it makes a sweet treat for wanna-be vampires. I made my cookies extra big and bagged them up in cellophane bags with a vampire bakery label for party favors. Everyone loved them!

*Most stores carry red velvet cake mixes. If you can't find a store that has them in stock, ask if they can special order it for you.
